Carlos Casely’s formal training as an educator matches his desire to help young people from various backgrounds reach their highest potential on and off the court. In teaching and guiding student-athletes, Casely applies his 15 years of coaching experience complemented by his bachelor's degree in psychology earned at Florida International University.
Casely was honored with the award of Outstanding Florida Instructor by the USTA in 1999 and has been a certified instructor with the USPTA since 1994. He has extensive junior and professional playing and teaching experience and is currently director of tennis programs at several Miami-Dade County facilities.
Carlos Casely spent 7 years at Florida International University where he became Head Coach for the highly successful nationally ranked Women's Tennis Team which competes at the Division I level and was heavily involved with recruiting and building of the three-time Sun Belt Conference Champion FIU Golden Panthers. Through his camps and clinics, he has also had more than 20 of his amateur student-athletes accept NCAA Division I scholarships over the last 10 years. Casely has been successful on the international stage as well where he has coached players to 38 titles at the junior and professional levels. Casely has special pride that his teams have always strived for excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
In 2008, Carlos Casely decided to step down as Head Coach of Florida International University in order to return to his first love as builder of grassroots tennis programs and Director of his tennis
organization, The Casely Tennis Academy. Casely leads a group of talented, motivated and certified staff of coaches, offering programs for participants of all ages and abilities, including the special needs population, from beginners to touring professionals.
Carlos Casely' extensive experience coupled with his background in sports psychology has led to success guiding youth of all ages and levels. Thorough his Foundation, Casely Tennis Foundation, Casely provides opportunities for underpriviledged youth to learn and play the game of tennis.
